When you are looking at a person’s profile, this is the end result of a very long and complex process. The WealthEngine system draws in about half-a-trillion data points across many different sources, and then applies sophisticated analytics to give you the best possible look at that individual, based on public data. However, data does have its limitations.
It is because of this that WE has built in ways for you to edit profiles. If you know something that isn’t reflected in the data, you may be able to not just update the information you’re looking at, but actually get the system to recalculate the scores!

Profiles are built by linking various data points together because they have enough commonalities that WE can conclude that they apply to the same person. Not all of these connections are created equal, however, and this is what we call the Quality of Match (QOM). In particular, WealthEngine draws a deliberate line between data points that share both a full name and address (H - High) and those that don’t (M - Medium).
When you open up a profile, the only Medium QOM data that you might see there are Charitable Donations, FEC Contributions, or SSDI Death Index records. Everything else is High QOM, meaning it has that full name and address in common that allows the system to be properly confident.
Medium QOM data points aren’t included in the profile because, while they certainly look like your customer or client, there’s not enough for our system to be sure. However, you can choose to pull that data in using the Find More feature at the top of the page!
Running this function will add records to the profile, however it doesn’t factor into the scores unless you independently choose to verify them. Which brings us to verification.
- Note: Before the WE9 product release, profiles did include Medium QOM, though they didn’t impact scores. In the new profiles, you now have more control over whether you see it or not.
Of course, if you have pulled in Medium QOM data using Find More your next step is to see if you can validate it. However, keep in mind that if this is someone important enough that you want to reach out to them individually, you may want to verify some High QOM data as well. For one thing, WealthEngine updates our data a few times a year, which means that if you do a search for a customer today and then again four months from now, some information may have changed because the data was updated. In most cases, people won’t experience any major life changes in that space of time, so that delay wouldn’t significantly impact their profiles. However, if your person was recently divorced, they may be an exception.
You should also consider that, living in an imperfect world, we may occasionally receive data that has an error in it (e.g. an extra zero in a real estate record). While these issues are in the minority, there is still real value in quickly double-checking that the records you’re most excited about make sense.
Once a profile has been saved in your My Profiles section, you will be able to easily mark data as verified by checking the box to the left of the record in Research Details.

Adding Your Own Data
In some instances, you may be pulling up the profile of someone you know fairly well. Whether they are a long-time customer or a potential board member on whom you’ve already done some external research, it is possible that you know something that isn’t in our data.
If you go to the More option in the upper right-hand of the page and open the dropdown menu, you will see an Add Supplemental Data option. This will give you a pop-up where you can provide everything from age/date of birth, to income information, to your own giving history. If you hit Save the scores will automatically recalculate to reflect that input!
Let’s say that you go to validate a High QOM record – but you realize that it’s wrong! Whether it be a property that you know belongs to your person’s now-ex, or you simply determine that its market value was somehow inflated, this is something that could be skewing the scores and giving you the wrong impression about their value. On the occasions when you are reaching out individually, you want to make sure you aren’t spending those valuable resources on someone who isn’t as promising as you thought. So, what happens then?
Beside that record in Research Details, you will see a trash can icon. Click it to delete – the scores will automatically recalculate to give you a more accurate assessment!
- Note: When you go to delete a record, you will be given the option not just to restore that one, but also to Undelete All. If you conclude that you were wrong and want to bring that record back you can always do so!
Downloading the Profile
While you can export entire lists of people from your My Profiles, there may be instances where you want to download a single profile and to view it in this easy-to-read format.
If you go to More in the upper right-hand corner of the page and click on Download Profile in the dropdown, this will pull you to a printing page. In the Destination field, you choose instead to save it as a PDF or to your Google Drive.
